Risk Management Workshop for BC Meat Producers

Farm life can be unpredictable, even on the best days – weather, pests, market conditions, relationships, and more recently, COVID-19 can affect not only day-to-day farm management but the future of the operation altogether. In recent years, producers in B.C. have seen the devastating effects that certain risks can have on a farm. But, with risk, also comes opportunity for those who are positioned to take calculated risks. This is why it’s important to plan for risk.Farm Management Canada and the Small-Scale Meat Producers Association invites Meat Producers in the province of British Columbia to attend one of three virtual Roots to Success Risk Management workshops taking place in January to increase their ability to assess and address risks using a comprehensive approach to managing risk on the farm.Thanks to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and the Agri-Risk Initiatives Program and to the Small-Scale Meat Producers Association, this workshop is available for the low cost of $30 to producers.
The workshop will allow you to:
Gain knowledge, tools and resources to make better business decisions
Share best practices and lessons learned with other producers
Begin to create a comprehensive risk management plan tailored to your farm
Producers in B.C. are invited to register to one of the following workshops:
WORKSHOP 1 – Cattle Producers: January 10th and 17th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PST*Producers must attend both sessions to complete the workshop
WORKSHOP 2 – Meat Producers (Mixed): January 11th and 18th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PST*Producers must attend both sessions to complete the workshop
WORKSHOP 3 – Meat Producers (Mixed): January 13th and 20th from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PST*Producers must attend both sessions to complete the workshop
